Val is a talented artist and lovely person in my painting class. One Sunday, she came into the studio to work with two black eyes and a bandage over her nose. Earlier that weekend, she was standing in line on lower Saint Laurent and a man was harassing one of her female friends. She stood up for her friend and was hit several times in the face. The man ran away into the busy crowd and will only suffer the consequences of a guilty conscience.
